Early College High School Model

Innovative Schools is proud to partner with EdWorks to replicate this innovative high school model in Delaware. The Early College High School Model is a unique opportunity to inspire students traditionally under-represented in higher education to learn more challenging material, and move on to college.

This model is established through strong partnerships with local colleges and universities, which often provide space for these small, high school campuses. Early College High Schools provide students with a dual credit model, focusing on:
  • Satisfying high school course requirements through dual credit or mastery
  • Completing the college core and elective courses to earn at least 30 hours of college credits
  • College exploration and entrance testing
  • Career exploration and internships
  • Community involvement and service learning
  • Personal responsibility and growth

Together, leaders, teachers, and administrators ensure students succeed in higher education by:

  • Using the 'power of the place" to create a seamless transition between high school and higher education
  • Making higher education more accessible, affordable, and attainable by removing the mystery from higher education
  • Providing guidance and support to students throughout their high school and college experiences
  • Motivation students to pursue higher education

At the completion of their four years in high school, 100% of students attending Early College High Schools have earned a minimum of 30 hours of college credit. As many as 60% of students earn as Associates Degree, or the equivalent of 45-60 hours of credit.
