Project Based Learning 101 Workshop (March 19-21)


For cutting-edge educators ready to implement Project-Based Learning in your classroom today

A three-day intensive workshop to effectively plan, implement and assess standards-based projects to drive instruction that is rigorous, relevant and hands-on


Workshop Includes

Day 1: Designing Projects — Brainstorm relevant, engaging and rigorous projects
Day Two: Assessing Projects — Assess the whole learner – looking at content knowledge and 21st century skills
Day Three: Managing Projects — Strategies to increase student achievement and engagement

PBL 101 also includes — (1) PBL workbook and other planning documents, (2) one-on-one coaching and (3) unlimited technical support. Coaching support takes place over two days

  • Coaching Support Day One: Whole Group
    Dedicated to answering questions about project planning or implementation and sharing “Stars and Stairs”- successes and challenges
  • Coaching Support Day Two: One-on-One or Small Group
    Dedicated to supporting individual or small group project implementation and assessing project planning and management

Facilitator

Facilitator Rhonda Hill is a Buck Institute for Education Certified Project Based Learning Facilitator and Trainer and Instructional Support Specialist with Innovative Schools. For 25 years, the Buck Institute for Education been at the forefront of educational reform with efforts focusing on being a catalyst for changing classroom instructional delivery methods by developing and defining high quality Project Based Learning. Rhonda is a former Special Educator in multiple urban settings and Certified Reading Specialist.

Project Based Learning helps students:

  • gain a deeper understanding of the standards and concepts at the heart of a project.
  • build the 21st century skills vital for college and career success.
  • address community issues, interact with adult mentors, use technology and present work to audiences beyond the classroom.

For forward thinking educators ready to explore outside-the-box learning strategies

Three hands-on information sessions designed to give you a close-up of innovative strategies that can be imbedded in 21st century school designs


Showcase includes three strands:

Strand 1: Project Based Learning
Strand 2: Advisories and Internships
Strand 3: Student Engaged Classroom Assessment

Cost

There is no cost to attend this event. Schools are encouraged to send teams to explore how deeper learning strategies can be implemented in their buildings. Light refreshments will be provided. Registration is limited to 100 participants.
