Innovative Schools would like to thank the Longwood Foundation for your support of the Innovative School Solutions Division.  Over the next two years, the Longwood Foundation has provided critical funding that will allow Innovative Schools to build out its Solutions services to increase access to these services for Delaware’s charter schools community.

Facilities Project Management

Innovative Schools has partnered with The AXIS Group, Inc., a facility design and construction project management firm to support charter schools to design new or renovate existing facilities and manage the construction project.   The Project Manager will support you with:

  1. Determining you needs and identifying sites that meet pre-established criteria (whether raw land for a new building or select an existing building/site) 
  2. Providing preliminary site evaluations and comparisons and assist with the due diligence process
  3. Conceptual space planning
  4. Selecting the best method to have the facility build or renovated
  5. Developing preliminary budgets and schedules
  6. Managing the hiring of and oversight of the architects and engineers you’ll need for the design and construction administration of the new facility
  7. Overseeing construction from start to Certificate of Occupancy (and beyond)

Loan Guaranty Program

Innovative Schools’ Loan Guaranty Fund is a charitable trust that offers financial backing to Delaware charter schools so that they are able to secure bank financing for building acquisition, renovation, construction, or leasehold improvements. The fund is comprised of donations from the Rodel Foundation of Delaware, Longwood Foundation, Welfare Foundation, and MBNA Foundation (now Bank of America).

To date, schools that have benefited from the Loan Guaranty Fund include Newark Charter School, Delaware Military Academy, Delaware College Preparatory Academy, Maurice J. Moyer Academy, Odyssey Charter School, East Side Charter School, and Family Foundations Academy. 

All Delaware charter schools are eligible for the Loan Guaranty Fund, and will be asked to complete an application. Innovative Schools conducts an initial screening assessment to evaluate 11 characteristics of applicants.

The process from completed application to final recommendation takes six to eight weeks. Funds are limited; not all requests can be accommodated. Fees are outlined in the Loan Guaranty Application, and are subject to change.
