Grant Writing
Expand your School’s Contributed Income Base
Innovative Schools' Grant Writing support is designed to help build a school's internal capacity to identify and manage grant applications. As part of the process, the school is asked to select a staff member who will serve as a point-of-contact and manage all grant proposals. Onsite support from Innovative Schools includes:
- Needs Assessment - Innovative Schools meets with school leadership to review current fundraising efforts, the school model, academic programs, and other school offerings, to determine funding needs.
-
Grant Writing Workshop - This three hour workshop is delivered at the school and provides an overview of:
- Types of grants
- Formats for proposal writing
- Developing a proposal timeline
- Developing a program budget
- Grant application supporting documentation
- Grant writing terms
- Building and maintaining relationships with funders
- Research - Using information generated from the Needs Assessment, Innovative Schools will research funding opportunities and develop a report outlining specifics about identified funders, application requirements, and application deadlines.
- Proofreading - Review and provide feedback on the narratives and budget.
If your school does not have the capacity to manage grant applications in-house, Innovative Schools works with grant writing consultants who can write the narrative portions of grant applications. Innovative Schools' staff supports this effort by identifying potential grant applications, project coordination, and proof reading support. Schools are required to support all grant writing by providing requested materilas, and approving and signing completed grant applications.
