Improve Your Hiring and Management Practices. Expand Your Pool of Candidates. Build Your Best Teaching Team.

When it comes to raising student achievement, nothing matters as much as the strength of your teaching team. Innovative Schools and its partner, The New Teacher Project, are proud to offer Delaware Talent Management – a  set of three services that support effective school-level teacher recruitment and hiring practices and provide guidance on the management techniques that lead to better staff retention and improved student outcomes. These services are complementary and have the greatest impact when used together.

(1) Build a Strong Team: Educate Delaware Offers National Pool of Top Teachers

Educate Delawareis a teacher pipeline powered by a national recruitment campaign that puts applicants through rigorous screening process.  Participating schools gain access to a large pool of pre-recommended, certified teacher candidates and receive targeted referrals of candidates for their specific hiring needs.  This pipeline reduces work of recruitment and selection process by quickly putting you in touch with eligible, well-matched teachers for the specific positions for which you are hiring:

  • Through Educate Delaware’s TeacherTrack software, you will be able to view applications for multiple qualified candidates from across the country throughout the school year, whether for mid-year vacancies or fall hiring.

  • Because Delaware Talent Management screens each application centrally, there is an added element of selectivity and quality among Educate Delaware hires. You can be assured that you will be selecting from high quality talent.
  • You have full control over the search process. If you feel a candidate is not the right fit for you, you have no obligation to hire.
  • Participating schools receive support for an unlimited number of hires, and there is no per-candidate fee.

(2) Assess Your Management Strategies: Instructional Culture Insight Survey Gives Insight into School Environment and Identifies Drivers of Teacher Retention

Teacher quality is the most powerful factors affecting student success. As managers, principals also wield an incredible amount of influence on the growth of students through the feedback and development opportunities that they provide to their teaching staffs.

The Instructional Culture Insight Survey, a reliable survey developed by The New Teacher Project, measures your school’s instructional culture, as seen through the eyes of your teaching staff.  The survey is distributed to two times during the school year, and points to the management stengths than can be leveraged and areas that could use further improvement in several key domains, including:

  1. Hiring Process
  2. Observation and Feedback
  3. Evaluation
  4. Professional Development
  5. Learning Environment
  6. Student Grown Measures
  7. Teacher Retention Strategies

The survey results have been independently validated as a predictor of teacher retention and student outcomes; by goal-setting around these domains, principals stand to make dramatic improvements in overall school performance.

(3) Leadership Development : Coaching Provides School Leaders with Staffing & Management Insights

To ensure schools participating in Delaware Talent Management set aggressive hiring goals, access top teaching talent, and retain their high performing teacher, coaching workshops and individualized thought-partner sessions are designed to help principals stay focused on their staffs throughout the year.  The coaching is designed to help school leaders build a strategic staffing plan by arranging staff with academic and school-based goals in mind, consider the effects of building culture on teacher retention, and plan for next steps.
